I wrote this song about a crazy drunk guitar man I met down in New Orleans. This was one of the first songs I wrote by myself, from the heart, pure energy and art.
lyrics
I met you
In the Square;
We traded names
And we got on well, so
We played our songs
And I was scared,
But you told me,
'Not to worry'
So we drank a few
And I found some courage
Deep in a Bottle of Kentucky Whiskey.
We shared a smoke and
You know we've got jokes, and
I'll probably never see you again, but
Whenever I pass by your way,
I'll look for you. Every day.
And if I find you, you know I'll stay
If only just for a while.
Well, as it turns out,
We met again,
and again and again and again and again.
Man, there's nothing quite like
Falling in Love
And I never wanted those sweet nights to end.
And every night we play our songs,
And wind up sleeping in each other's arms,
And even though I see you every damn day,
I seem to find it harder to say, "Goodbye."
Whenever I pass by your way,
I'll look for you. Every day.
And if I find you, you know I'll stay
If only just for a while.
Well, months have gone by
Since I've seen your face.
I saw you found Someone to fill your Heart's Space
May you always know just
where your Home is,
And remember how to be your Best.
May you always speak up,
And mean what you say,
And love Her more with every day.
It doesn't hurt me at all to say
I'll probably never see you again, but,
Whenever I pass by your way,
I'll look for you. Every day.
And if I find you, you know I'll stay
If only just for a while.
Whenever I pass by your way,
I'll look for you. Every day.
I hope I find you cuz I want to stay,
I just want to see you smile.
