I wrote this song about a guitar from a New Orleans pawn shop that got me through a really difficult time in my life.

Bought a beat-up guitar at a pawn shop,
And late at night, when our beats would drop, He'd whisper his secrets to me.

He spoke in tone, colours felt in the bone, and the song's we'd sing were those of our own. We'd weave our own therapeutic melodies.

Cuz I been lost without you, and I know I've been trying to fly, but it's so hard to fly when you feel like your wings have broken.

I've spent too many nights on my bathroom floor, asking myself 'how could you hurt me more?' Felt like you'd ripped right through me.

But, since then, Jack and I have been doing fine, with Evan Williams along for the ride. Now they'll never let you get through to me.

Cuz I'm just fine without you, and I know all you said were lies. I've taken time and realized that I'm fine, I'll fly when I want to.

Bad things happen, so I write songs about 'em, one day I'll be rich and famous, and they'll just be old problems.
